Chris Klieman’s Kansas State Wildcats burnt Mike Gundy’s mullet to a crisp in their 48-0 shutout victory over the Oklahoma State Cowboys.

Another year, another wasted opportunity for Mike Gundy’s Oklahoma State Cowboys to make the College Football Playoff.

After losing a heartbreaker in overtime to still-undefeated TCU in Fort Worth, the Pokes ran into an EMAW storm at Bill Snyder Family Stadium in the Little Apple. There were 48 points scored in this game between two ranked Big 12 teams, and all 48 of them were scored by Chris Klieman’s Kansas State Wildcats. It was so bad Gundy’s son Gunnar Gundy got to play some quarterback.

The Big 12 was ripe for the taking this year, and once again, the Pokes completely blew it…

Kansas State ends Oklahoma State’s slim College Football Playoff chances

Although the Pokes’ playoff chances were slim to begin with after suffering their first conference loss at TCU, they are completely gone now. More importantly, their pathway to getting to Arlington just got a whole lot more difficult. Keep in mind who their two losses are to: Undefeated TCU and a 6-2 K-State team, whose only conference loss was to TCU. The other was to Tulane…

While Texas is getting better under Steve Sarkisian and Oklahoma got off to a horrible start under first-time head coach Brent Venables, eventually, Gundy has to take advantage of the Big 12 situation. Oklahoma State has money and resources, and recruits well. Yet, the Pokes cannot beat teams with fewer stars on their roster when it counts. After 15-plus years, nothing has changed.

Ultimately, we should expect the conference title bout rematch in Arlington to be between the Horned Frogs and the Wildcats. It would be a bit of fresh air to not see an Oklahoma school there, to be honest. Kansas State is not a playoff team, but TCU most certainly could be. There is really no other way to put. This comes down to coaching, as Gundy and his staff keep coming up short.

If Kansas State being dominant shocks you, then you have never heard of North Dakota State…
