The 2022 Gold Glove award winners were revealed on Tuesday night, and St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado made history.
The talk of the baseball world on Tuesday night was Game 3 of the World Series between the Philadelphia Phillies and Houston Astros. Ahead of the first World Series game at Citizen’s Bank Park since 2009, there were some year-end awards handed out.
Over a week ago, Rawlings unveiled their finalists for the 2022 Gold Glove awards. Well, the winners were announced prior to first pitch of Game 3, and there was some history made.
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado won his 10th consecutive Gold Glove award. That officially ties Ichiro Suzuki for the most consecutive Gold Gloves to begin their careers.

The history continued, as there were 14 first-time winners for the Gold Glove award. This is the most first-time winners in a single season since 2020, when there were 11. That statistic comes courtesy of Sarah Langs of MLB.com.

Some of the headliners of the National League winners include Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto, Atlanta Braves shortstop Dansby Swanson, and Los Angeles Dodgers right fielder Mookie Betts.

As for the American League, there were plenty of representatives from the Cleveland Guardians. Second baseman Andres Gimenez, left fielder Steven Kwan, center fielder Myles Straw, and pitcher Shane Bieber.
Other notable winners from the AL include Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Houston Astros rookie shortstop Jeremy Pena. Of course, Pena notably replaced Carlos Correa, who won the Gold Glove last year and signed with the Minnesota Twins in the offseason.
