Ohio State getting roasted by college football fans for awful start vs Northwestern
Ohio State were massive favorites against Northwestern but windy conditions left the Buckeyes on the ropes in a shocking early upset alert.
Mother Nature might not be the biggest fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Favored by a whopping 38 points as Ryan Day’s team went on the road to face a lowly 1-7 Northwestern Wildcats team, the weather was abysmal with 40 mph winds gusting and rain coming down in Evanston. Even still, you’d assume that the team that came in at No. 2 in the first College Football Playoff rankings would be able to handle one of the worst teams in the country.
Not the case.
On their first six drives of the game, the Buckeyes offense was virtually nonexistent as they managed a total of only 62 yards on those drives, including two three-and-outs, a four-down turnover on downs and two four-play drives that led to punts. Meanwhile, Northwester used an early long drive on the ground to take a 7-0 lead, putting Ohio State firmly on upset alert early.
Ohio State on early upset alert vs Northwestern: Buckeyes get roasted
The Buckeyes being tested by a one-win team had college football fans quick to call out the team, with even some of their own fans joining the party to call them soft.

There have been several instances this season of Ohio State not coming out of the gates as strong as you would expect. It even happened a week ago in the eventual win over Penn State.
Given that they’re still undefeated, fans might still expect them to turn it around, especially against a talent-inferior opponent like Northwestern. Even so, the Buckeyes are showing some warning signs as a Top 2 team in the country and being on upset alert against the Wildcats won’t alleviate any concerns.
