Following Alabama’s loss to LSU, dropping them to 6-2, Paul Finebaum has come out and said Nick Saban is wasting not only Bryce Young’s career but also Will Anderson Jr.
Once thought to be the staunchest Nick Saban supporter outside Stephen A. Smith and Shannon Sharpe, Paul Finebaum has changed his tune.
After going after the Alabama coach on ESPN’s Get Up, Finebaum did, even more, speaking about how Saban was ruining the careers of Bryce Young and defensive menace Will Anderson Jr., both of whom will be heading to the NFL after this season.
"“You can choose your words harshly or you can be calm and say, ‘Nick Saban will recover from this,’ but I don’t know the answer to that. I know he’s wasted the best quarterback perhaps in Alabama history, maybe one of the best defensive players, and you laid out the rest of the team, it seems a shame, quite frankly, when you look at it from an Alabama perspective, what’s happened.”"
Paul Finebaum showed no mercy to Nick Saban after Alabama’s loss to LSU
Finebaum might be speaking a little too aggressively, but in some cases, he is very valid with what he is saying. Young and Anderson Jr don’t have much time left and will soon exchange Crimson for whatever new color their team in the NFL wears.
At the same time, the Tide are likely out of the playoffs for good unless something changes or the committee shows a bit of sympathy toward them. With LSU rolling the way they are and with Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan, TCU, USC, and Oregon looming, all of them are teaming up despite their differences to ensure that the Crimson Tide does not make the final four.
Things have not gone well in Tuscaloosa thus far, and it is possible things could get worse. Ole Miss is up next, and we can be assured those players are ready for a chance to officially eliminate Alabama without any form of doubt. If that happens, Paul Finebaum will get the last laugh, but Nick Saban had better hope otherwise.
