Former Nebraska football interim head coach Mickey Joseph has been arrested in Lincoln for Strangulation and 3rd Degree Domestic Assault.
Just days after Matt Rhule was named the new head coach of Nebraska football, the man who finished the season with the Cornhuskers has landed in custody in Lincoln. On Wednesday, Mickey Joseph was arrested for Strangulation and 3rd Degree Domestic Assault by the Lincoln Police Department where he was taken to Lancaster County Jail.
The police department released a statement on the arrest given the high-profile nature of Joseph after reports had circulated that a high level person at Nebraska had been arrested.

Joseph was named the interim head coach of the Nebraska Cornhuskers in early September after the firing of Scott Frost and finished the season in that role. A decision on whether or not he would be retained for Rhule’s staff had not yet been made.

After news of the arrest, Nebraska athletic director Trev Alberts also released a statement, saying, “I was made aware of the charges against Coach Joseph and given the nature of the allegations and based on University policy he has been placed on administrative leave. We will have no additional comment at this time.”
Details of the incident have not been reported at this point but the charges are harrowing in their own description.
Upon Rhule being hired, Joseph was one of the first people the new head coach was asked about and the former Panthers coach seemed open to retaining Joseph on the staff as long as he was a fit. This arrest and being put on administrative leave, however, drastically changes the situation.
