Projected College Football Playoff rankings after Week 14: No. 2-1

2. Michigan Wolverines

While they bullied Ohio State in the regular-season finale to secure a second straight win over their biggest rivals under Jim Harbaugh, one of the questions for Michigan coming into the Big Ten Championship Game matchup against Purdue was whether or not they would look the same against a different opponent with Blake Corum, the team’s best offensive weapon, fully out of the equation.

Purdue definitely kept it close with a strong early offensive performance from the Boilermakers as they trailed by just one point going into halftime. But it was another stalwart second-half performance from the Wolverines as they outscored their opponents 29-9 in the final two quarters to finish the year 13-0 as they head to the Playoff as the second favorite to win the title.

1. Georgia Bulldogs

There’s perhaps no better image of the Georgia Bulldogs’ dominance than what star defensive tackle Jalen Carter gave us in the SEC Championship Game against LSU. After busting through the offensive line and getting to Jayden Daniels, he picked the quarterback up off the ground with one arm while holding his other arm up with one finger held up as well.

At times this season, the Dawgs have played with their food a bit too much for fans’ liking. But at the end of the day, when this team turns it on, they look well on track to win a second straight national championship after waiting 40+ years for last year’s. This team looked that dominant part on Saturday night in Atlanta with a 50-30 victory and they are the unquestioned top team in college football.
