The Georgia Bulldogs won the turnover battle, with a bit of luck, against the LSU Tigers early on in the SEC Championship Game.

The Georgia Bulldogs have held the No. 1 spot in the rankings ever since they defeated the Tennessee Volunteers back in November. The team is loaded with talent, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Well, they showed off their skillsets early on in the SEC Championship Game.

In the first quarter, LSU’s offense attempted a field goal to get on the board first. Damian Ramos attempted a 32-yarder, but Georgia defensive lineman Nazir Stackhouse burst through the middle of the line of scrimmage and blocked it. No whistle was blown by the on-field officials, so defensive back Christopher Smith II took the football and returned it 95-yards for a touchdown, giving the Bulldogs an early 7-0 lead.

If you thought that was an incredible play, wait until we tell you what happened on the very first play of the second quarter.

LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels threw a pass intended for wide receiver Jack Bech, but it was tipped up into the air by Smith. Then, the football fell toward the ground which hit the top of Bech’s helmet. From there, it deflected off defensive back Javon Bullard’s hands and into the hands of Smael Mondon Jr. for the interception.

Some may call the play lucky. We can say who won’t call it lucky — Bulldogs fans.

The Bulldogs got off to an early 35-10 lead entering halftime. Early on, the Bulldogs are showing that they’re the favorites in the College Football Playoff.
