Kansas State threw a wrench in TCU’s perfect season by stealing the Big 12 title out from under them, but CFB media has eyes mostly for the playoff debate.
You never know what to expect in college football. You can go into championship Saturday expecting games to go chalk all you want, that won’t stop the underdog from flipping the script every once in a while.
Kansas State was the one playing spoiler on Saturday when they held off a TCU comeback to snatch a thrilling overtime victory over TCU.
The Wildcats needed a goal-line stand to get the advantage over the Horned Frogs in the end. They kicked a 31-yard field goal to win it at the death.

Kansas State has been through so much adversity this season, a Big 12 title was a reflection of Chris Klieman’s leadership and his team’s perseverance.
KANSAS FREAKING STATE

Kansas State’s Chris Klieman deserves so much more love. Great football coach.

Big 12 champion Kansas State! Not many people saw that coming in August.

Under the 12-team format, Kansas State would've just clinched a bye.

The loss for TCU was frustrating, especially because quarterback Max Duggan didn’t have the ball in his hands for the two pivotal plays of overtime.
TCU comes back from 11 down to Kansas State in the fourth quarter, converts a two-point conversion to force OT in the Big 12 title game. They have stayed defiantly on brand as college football’s most endearing drama majors. What a fun team.

Max's legs got TCU back in the game and Sonny went away from them. That and a bad spot at money time cost them the game.

I can’t think of anything #TCU could have done to favor KSU more than to deny Max Duggan two attempts to run it in from inches away.

Dugan carries TCU back into the game nearly single-handedly and doesn’t have the rock in that goal to go sequence?

#TCU QB Max Duggan is the first player with 250 passing yards and 100 rushing yards in a conference championship game since Deshaun Watson in the 2015 ACC title game. @ESPNStatsInfo

Regardless of the outcome, Twitter was in agreement that TCU shouldn’t be held out of the College Football Playoff because of an overtime loss in the conference title game. Alabama fans were the exception in that discussion.
TCU spilled their guts out in a conference title game and lost in OT to a Top Ten opponent.

It would be a complete shame if a team that sat at home takes their spot.
If you don’t put Tcu in the playoff you deserve jail time

You can NOT put a two loss Bama team in over a one loss TCU team that went to OT In Conf Chip.. Can’t. No. No pic.twitter.com/tue6iSKcfs

An interesting nugget: Kansas State's athletic director, Gene Taylor, is on the CFP Selection Committee.

Kansas State gets to spend the next few weeks celebrating one of the biggest wins in program history. Then they’ll be off to play in the Sugar Bowl.
For TCU their magical season is far from over. They still look likely to grab a playoff spot where they’ll get the chance to mirror KSU by playing spoiler.
