Lane Kiffin isn’t in the CFP, but neither is Alabama so it’s time to troll the Tide

Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin trolled his former team in Alabama after the Crimson Tide failed to make the College Football Playoff as a two-loss, non-division champion this season.

Alabama put five on it, as in the Crimson Tide’s standing in the final College Football Playoff rankings.

Former Alabama offensive coordinator and current Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin may have an exciting Texas Bowl vs. Texas Tech to get ready for in Texas in a few weeks, but why not troll one’s former employer in a public manner on Twitter during one of their darkest hours? After Nick Saban bargained with the Big Noon Kickoff boys about being let in, the Tide are going to the Sugar Bowl!

If you want to bet your life on Alabama beating TCU head-to-head this season, you can go right ahead, but that theoretical matchup is not happening. Oh, what a shame…

Lane Kiffin trolled Alabama after Crimson Tide missed College Football Playoff

It is a new college football world out there, but there are two things that have not happened yet: Ole Miss getting to Atlanta as the SEC West champions or the Rebels making the four-team field. Although Ole Miss will probably get in as an at-large team in a few years once playoff expansion does happen, Kiffin needs to figure out how to beat his mentor head-to-head, first and foremost…

The good news for Kiffin is he appears to be building something potentially sustainable in Oxford. He could have left for more money and better resources at Auburn, but Ole Miss is far less toxic of a situation as is life down on The Plains. Kiffin seems to have used the transfer portal effectively to help reload a Rebels program that lost a ton of talent off the 10-3 Sugar Bowl runner-up squad.

As long as he can recruit at a respectable level, Ole Miss can be in contention to win around 10 games annually. Although that mark is not getting the Rebels into the playoff next year, that might be enough to merit inclusion for the first time in program history once the field expands to 12 teams in 2024. In the meantime, Kiffin and the rest of Ole Miss can enjoy Alabama’s misfortunes.

Alabama has missed out on making the College Football Playoff twice now in the last four years.
