Odell Beckham Jr. has narrowed his free agency to three teams. Heās visiting with the Cowboys on Monday, and hereās why he ought to sign with them.Ā
Odell Beckham Jrās free agency is poised to come to a conclusion, finally, mid-week. Before then, he meets with the Dallas Cowboys on Monday after previously meeting with the New York Giants and Buffalo Bills last week.
Each of the three teams offers something different to Beckham. Varying degrees of Super Bowl likelihood exist across the three teams, as do different opportunities to be involved as a premier passing target.
Beckham has mentioned that he wants to sign somewhere for multiple years to stop living the transient lifestyle heās been on the last year and a half or so. So while we donāt know exactly the terms of what heās been offered from the three teams just yet, it stands to reason contract length could push one team over the top.
Based on what we do know, though, hereās why Beckham should go ahead and put pen to paper with Jerry Jones and the Cowboys after his Monday visit.
Why Odell Beckham Jr needs to sign with Cowboys: Theyāve proven they want him most
No team has telegraphed their desire for Beckham more than the Cowboys. Bills and Giants fans have undoubtedly done their part on Twitter and other social media platforms expressing their desire to see him suit up for their team, but everyone in the actual Cowboys organization has made it clear they want Beckham.
Jerry Jones, Mike McCarthy, Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott, and Micah Parsons have all spoken in a favorable fashion of Beckham, if not outright said they want him in Dallas at various junctures. While telegraphing your desire normally doesnāt function well as a negotiation tactic, it seems to have forced Beckham-to-Dallas into existence.
Not only has it probably swayed Beckhamās interest, but itās also forced the conversation in the media around Beckham Dallasās way. As far as how much that really matters, itās hard to say.
That said, itās nice to feel wanted, and Dallas has absolutely done everything they can to express they want Beckham publicly. The only thing that could hold them back on that front is a bum offer in the total value or length of the contract they have offered or will offer Beckham.
