One year after transferring from Oklahoma, Caleb Williams won the Heisman trophy as the starting quarterback for the USC Trojans.
Last offseason, the college football world changed in part due to college coaches making jumps to new programs. Lincoln Riley moved on from Oklahoma to coach the USC Trojans. After a bit of a wait, quarterback Caleb Williams entered the transfer portal and ultimately joined his head coach in Southern California.
Williams led the way in his very first season as Trojans quarterback, bringing them close to College Football Playoff contention and a Pac-12 championship. For his extraordinary play, Williams was named the 2022 Heisman trophy winner.

Oklahoma fans react to Caleb Williams winning Heisman
Those who cheer for the Sooners, and those who don’t, shared their thoughts on Williams winning the Heisman. There were congratulatory tweets, and some that were a bit bitter over the quarterback transferring. And the message boards were predictably NSFW and salty.

Despite how I feel about Lincoln and Caleb Williams leaving Oklahoma for USC like they did & all of williams blunders this season, he gave a great speech. Respect

Let’s face it, we all knew Caleb Williams was absolutely going to win the heisman at some point, we just all hoped he’d be in a Sooners uniform

Williams was recruited to Oklahoma by Riley, and joined as part of the 2021 class. After being the backup, Williams eventually became the starter after Spencer Rattler was benched. Once being named QB1, he helped lead the team to an Alamo Bowl victory over the Oregon Ducks.
In his lone season at Oklahoma, Williams recorded 1,912 passing yards, 21 passing touchdowns, four interceptions, 442 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns in 11 games.
This season with the Trojans, Williams threw for 4,075 yards, 37 touchdowns (tied for most in the nation), and four interceptions, while running for 372 yards and 10 touchdowns on 109 carries.
Williams is now the eighth Heisman winner from USC, which is now the most of any college football program. Ironically, it broke a tie with Oklahoma, as well as Ohio State and Notre Dame.
