The college football world has been united in praying for Mike Leach, who is in the hospital because of a “personal health issue.”
While Mississippi State placed defensive coordinator Zach Arnett in charge of the football program for the time being, all attention remains on the status of the head coach.

Mississippi State confirmed that Leach was transferred by ambulance to the University of Mississippi Medical Center after a “personal health issue at his home” on Sunday. According to Gene’s Page in the 247Sports network, the head coach was airlifted to the hospital.
Unfortunately, those close to the Mississippi State program soon indicated that Leach’s situation was serious.
“Mike Leach needs a miracle, folks. Continue to pray,” Robbie Fault of 247Sports tweeted. He replied to someone asking about rumors that the coach had passed with a simple reply: “No.”
That was just before 10:00 p.m. ET.
Ross Dellinger of Sports Illustrated backed that assessment calling Leach’s situation “critical.”
There have been no reputable sources to elaborate on the exact nature of Leach’s “personal health issue.”
According to USA Today, Leach suffered a heart attack that may have involved multiple seizures. His status at this time is unknown.

"Mississippi State University Head Football Coach Mike Leach had a personal health issue at his home earlier today (Sunday, Dec. 11, 2022). That issue led to a decision to transfer Coach Leach to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson by ambulance. That is the extent of information that MSU has available regarding Coach Leach’s condition, and the university will make no other comment at this time other than to say that the thoughts and prayers of the university are with Mike and Sharon and their family.MSU President Mark E. Keenum and Interim MSU Athletics Director Bracky Brett have conferred, and the decision has been made to place MSU Defensive Coordinator Zach Arnett in charge of the MSU football team until Coach Leach returns. Practice for the ReliaQuest Bowl game and recruiting operations will continue.MSU will issue additional information via social media when it becomes available."

Leach is one of the most memorable figures in college football, known for his blunt nature and surly, but earnest replies to the most random questions from the media. The 2022 season was his third with Mississippi State after making a name for himself with his Air Raid attack at Washington State and Texas Tech.
