Thank you Cheez-Its for the latest basket of Oklahoma sadness

So help me Cheez-Its, the Oklahoma Sooners are playing in the got dang Cheez-It Bowl, y’all!

Although no Tulsan baskets in Oklahoma were filled with cotton or oranges this year, thank you Cheez-Its!

The Sooners went 6-6 in Brent Venables’ first year at the helm of OU. Though they still get to go bowling, they are probably going to finish the year 6-7, as they have to go up against No. 13 Florida State in Orlando. Though both college football blue-bloods are varying degrees of down now, the ‘Noles are trending up more than the Sooners are. We cannot wait for the Cheez-It Bowl!

Right outside of the Schusterman Center in Tulsa, you can see the statue proudly holding onto a box of Cheez-Its, much like former Sooners quarterback Caleb Williams held onto the Heisman Trophy on Saturday night. Cheez-Its may be delicious, but anytime you are holding onto a box of them by yourself, decisions were made. You are about to wake up feeling the cheesiest, Coach!

At least Red Scare had a plastic fork to eat his Cheetos out of the bag from inside of his cop car…

Oklahoma’s Tulsa campus woke up feeling the cheesiest, Coach!

Look. Even the best programs like Oklahoma have down years. However, it has been nearly a quarter century since the Sooners looked this bad on the gridiron. Replacing Lincoln Riley was never going to be easy, but Oklahoma has the financial resources to rebound rather quickly. Unfortunately, Venables has given off more John Blake vibes than anyone could have imagined.

There is no point trying to interrogate someone as deeply as Looking Glass would do, but you better believe me when I say they would not want to show their face out in public either. Eventually, Oklahoma will get back to putting up as much fight as Sister Night would typically do, but Dr. Manhattan ain’t walking through that door. The clock is ticking for Venables now (tick, tock).

Ultimately, Oklahoma fans should be thankful for the Sooners achieving bowl eligibility this year. If this is rock bottom, then let’s get better. That is the whole point of why achieving bowl eligibility is so important. All of those bowl game practices are opportunities for the players and coaches to get better. Had Oklahoma lost one more game, they would be sitting at home and doing nothing.

May Venables be doused in copious buckets of the cheesiest snack crackers to be ever conceived!
