The Ohio State Buckeyes have always had great wide receivers, so it’s not shocking that they got one of the top recruits in the 2024 class.

The Ohio State Buckeyes are getting ready for their Peach Bowl game against the Georgia Bulldogs in the College Football Playoff. When it comes to the Buckeyes, they always seem to have a great group of wide receivers, thanks in part to recruiting. This season, they had Emeka Egbuka and Marvin Harrison Jr. light up the stat sheets in Ohio State’s electric offense. They also had Jaxon Smith-Njigba, a top wide receiver in the 2023 NFL Draft class. This was after receivers Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave both left for the NFL.

To the shock of no one, the Buckeyes have successfully recruited another top receiver.

The Buckeyes have received the commitment from five-star wide receiver Jeremiah Smith, per Hayes Fawcett of On3Sports. Smith happens to be the second-ranked recruit in the entire 2024 class.

Ohio State is dominating the 2024 recruitment class. Not only did they secure Smith, but also the No 1 prospect in quarterback Dylan Raiola, per 247 Sports Composite. That could be a connection that Ohio State fans will become quite familiar with in the near future.

Smith, the top wide receiver and top prospect out of Florida, per 247 Sports Composite, also received offers from schools like Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Colorado, Notre Dame, Tennessee, USC, and more. But it was the Buckeyes who won out.

According to MaxPreps, Smith recorded 58 receptions for 1,073 yards and 20 touchdowns in 13 games played this season with Chaminade-Madonna High School.

Once again, head coach Ryan Day and wide receivers coach Brian Hartline received the commitment of a top wide receiver prospect. Speaking of Hartline, there has been buzz surrounding him receiving a head coaching job. That could be something to monitor in the future, and how that could affect Ohio State in terms of recruiting wide receivers.
