College Football Las Vegas Bowl: What is SRS Distribution?

Florida and Oregon State look to build on the good things that happened for them this year in the SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl on Saturday afternoon.

While Jonathan Smith is clearly building something special at his alma mater of Oregon State, it remains to be seen what year two will look like for Billy Napier in his rebuilding process at Florida.

In an exceedingly rare meeting in this Strife Aquatic, Smith’s 9-3 Beavers will meet Napier’s 6-6 Gators under the bright, domed lights of Las Vegas. Yes, the Pac-12 risers from Reser will face the SEC traditional power that is down for the moment in the 2022 SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl. There is a lot to unpack here in this lengthy bowl name, but no need to send out an SOS with SRS.

It is pretty simple, really. SRS Distribution is your one-stop shop for getting building and roofing supplies to wherever you need them in the United States of America. Though headquartered in Texas, this is a nationwide operation they are building, hoping to build even bigger things in the future. Oddly enough, the same sort of principles apply to teams from Corvallis and Gainesville.

Smith is the absolutely right guy to be leading his alma mater in this day and age of college football. Not only did he play for legendary Beavers head coaches Mike Riley and Dennis Erickson, but he was the quarterback who rifled the pigskin to Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson and T.J. Houshmandzadeh during their miraculous 2021 Fiesta Bowl championship season. Good for him!

As for Napier, the former failed Clemson offensive coordinator reinvented himself in Tuscaloosa by way of the Nick Saban rehabilitation method before becoming an on-the-rise head coach himself at Louisiana. His first season in Gainesville may have had its challenges, but a huge offseason ahead of year two for him at the helm could help the Gators back on top. Napier won’t back down.
