Georgia football recruiting has the Bulldogs with a Top 2 class for 2023, yet again proving that Kirby Smart is building a dynasty in Athens.

The fact that the Georgia Bulldogs were able to win the program’s first national championship in over 40 years, have almost its entire defense get drafted to the NFL and simply returned to being the No. 1 team in the College Football Playoff speaks to the unreal recruiting pipeline that head coach Kirby Smart and his staff have constructed to Athens.

Coming into Wednesday’s Early Signing Day, the Dawgs were looking to lock up the No. 2 overall class but, more importantly, perhaps move closer to the No. 1 class in Alabama. They were also trying to hold off other programs trying to flip some of their top recruits such as 5-star CB AJ Harris.

With that and then some big-time targets that could potentially commit, there were a lot of eyes on the Bulldogs for Early Signing Day. And we have all your Georgia football recruiting updates for Wednesday, Dec. 21 here for you.

Georgia football Early Signing Day rumors: Targets, potential commits on Dec. 21

Even with the No. 2 recruiting class for 2023 in their pocket, Smart and his staff were looking to add more studs to the Georgia football roster on Early Signing Day. The biggest potential commitment they were looking at was from 5-star EDGE Damon Wilson out of Venice, FL, the No. 13 overall prospect in this cycle. They were also competing with Lincoln Riley and USC for 5-star TE Duce Robinson out of Phoenix, the No. 17 overall recruit and the No. 1 player at his position in this class.

The Dawgs were also in the mix for 5-star DL James Smith, 5-star EDGE Qua Russaw and 4-star DL Jordan Hall coming into Wednesday.

Wednesday, Dec. 21, 3:45 p.m. ET – 5-star EDGE Damon Wilson headed for Georgia

The top-ranked uncommitted recruit coming into Early Signing Day, the Dawgs were considered the favorites for Wilson and that was the right call. The Top 15 recruit is now heading to Athens with a hard commitment.

Wednesday, Dec. 21 – Georgia beats out Auburn for 4-star OT Bo Hughley

Despite pushes from Auburn, Nebraska and others, Georgia was able to keep 4-star offensive tackle Bo Hughley in-state as they landed a commitment from the blocker with a ton of upside.

Wednesday, Dec. 21 – Georgia keeps 5-star AJ Harris from flipping

One of the biggest wins on Wednesday for Early Signing Day was Smart and his staff preventing a huge flip. Georgia had a commitment from 5-star cornerback AJ Harris but rumors were swirling that the Alabama native could flip after visiting Texas A&M this past week. However, the Dawgs stopped that and kept him coming to Athens as Harris signed his official letter of intent.

Wednesday, Dec. 21 – 4-star CB Daniel Harris comes back to Georgia after decommitting previously

Back in November, 4-star corner Daniel Harris, a previous commit for the Dawgs, announced his decommitment and reopened his recruitment. Penn State made a push, but in the end, UGA was able to hang onto him as he came back to his original commitment on Wednesday.
