Jackson State cornerback Travis Hunter entered the transfer portal, and reportedly had “multiple conversations” with the Georgia Bulldogs.

Just prior to their Celebration Bowl game, the Jackson State Tigers football program was informed by head coach Deion Sanders that he would be accepting the job at Colorado University. With that, some players have entered the transfer portal including perhaps their best player in wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter. There is now an update regarding who is in the running for Hunter.

According to 247Sports’ Rusty Mansell, the Georgia Bulldogs are a legitimate contender to land Hunter from the transfer portal, and they’ve had “multiple conversations” with the former No. 1 overall recruit.

Travis Hunter transfer rumors: Georgia ‘legit, serious players’ for No. 1 recruit from 2022 class

This would be quite the get for the Bulldogs. They are set to potentially lose cornerback Kelee Ringo after this season, as he’s a top prospect in the 2023 NFL Draft class if he were to declare. Getting Hunter into the program would be huge for the Bulldogs, and another victory for Smart, one of the top recruiters in the game.

Oh, and not to mention that Hunter can also play at the receiver position. So it’s entirely possible he could play on offense as well.

While Georgia is viewed as contenders for Hunter, Mansell brings up Colorado as another top option. After all, Sanders is leading the program, and Hunter was at the school this past Sunday. Mansell also mentions the USC Trojans and Miami Hurricanes as potential options. Yet, Mansell believes that it will come down to “Prime vs. Kirby.”

Hunter was the No. 1 recruit in the entire 2022 class. He was originally committed to Florida State, but he flipped to Jackson State on Early Signing Day.

This season, Hunter recorded 20 tackles, 10 passes defended, and two interceptions on defense, while catching 18 passes for 188 yards, and four touchdowns on offense.

Hunter is arguably the top player in the transfer portal, so there will be plenty of attention focused on which football program he’ll ultimately join.
