Broncos wideouts miraculously defend Russell Wilson amid social media criticism

Denver Broncos wideouts Jerry Jeudy and K.J. Hamler came to the defense of embattled quarterback Russell Wilson, who is having the worst year of his career.

Apparently, Russell Wilson hasn’t lost the locker room after all.

Wilson is in the midst of the worst season of his career. In what was supposed to be the start of a memorable partnership, Wilson’s failure played a major role in getting Nathaniel Hackett fired in just his first year on the job. Hackett had his own issues, of course (namely clock management), but the point remains that if Wilson and the offense could have scored a measly 20 points per game, Denver would be a borderline playoff team.

Instead, the Broncos are in the depths of the AFC West, though that’s not entirely on Wilson. The offense as a whole deserves some criticism, and Denver’s best wide receivers are ready to shoulder some of that blame.

K.J. Hamler and Jerry Jeudy both came to Russell Wilson’s defense when an article aggregated by Barstool Sports took a shot at the quarterback for having an office and private parking spot at his disposal.

Hamler considered the article a reach, suggesting that he “understands this season isn’t the way we wanted nor anybody wanted.” Still, the Penn State product doesn’t understand the constant criticism surrounding Russ.

In Hamler’s eyes, Wilson remains the legendary, future Hall-of-Fame quarterback Denver traded for in the first place. Some fans would disagree, of course.

Jerry Jeudy quickly backed Hamler and his quarterback up, as well:

“I ain’t gonna keep looking at these false statements about my boii russ man, as a teammate who sees the elite work ethic this man has is incomparable. He got an office because he’s committed his life to this game. I never had a teammate who motivate me more than russ,” Jeudy tweeted.

The Broncos couldn’t get rid of Wilson even if they wanted to, as the dead cap hit would cripple them. With that in mind, it’s a good sign that his targets still have his back.
