Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson is having a season to forget, and opened his Christmas Day performance against the Rams by throwing two interceptions.

There are plenty of positive takeaways from the NFL’s Nickelodeon broadcast, namely reaching a wider audience and giving kids a chance to enjoy everything professional football has to offer.

However, there are a few negatives, especially if you’re an NFL player. The analysts pull no punches, especially when that analyst is Patrick Star from ‘Spongebob’.

The Broncos really traded three first-round picks for a quarterback who got roasted by Patrick Star. It’s a tough business.

Wilson threw two interceptions on the Broncos first two drives. Denver’s offense is the worst in football. Had they scored even 20 points in most of their games, odds are Wilson would be leading a playoff team.

Russell Wilson tried to one-up Tua Tagovailoa, who threw three straight interceptions to end the game against the Green Bay Packers. Wilson’s efforts against the Rams don’t loom nearly as large, as neither of these teams is chasing an NFC playoff spot.

The reigning Super Bowl champions were bit by the injury bug early and often, and haven’t threatened much since the beginning of the season. Denver, meanwhile, never quite got over the hump with Nathaniel Hackett and Wilson. Hackett could be fired before the start of next season, while Wilson is in Denver for the long haul if only because of his contract.

That won’t be fun to pay off at this rate.

Wilson is likely to improve at some point, especially if the Broncos switch things up with play-calling. He’s too talented of a player to fail this miserably on a week-in, week-out basis.
