Orange Bowl 2022: Clemson vs Tennessee live stream, start time, TV channel, opt-outs, radio broadcast
Clemson will face Tennessee in the 2022 Orange Bowl after both the Tigers and Vols fell short of making the College Football Playoff.
One night before the College Football Playoff gets underway, we’ll see a huge matchup for the 2022 Orange Bowl between teams that had aspirations to be part of the playoff up until the final games of the regular season with the Clemson Tigers taking on the Tennessee Volunteers on Friday, Dec. 30.
Both the Tigers and Vols suffered upset losses at the hands of South Carolina in the final two weeks of the year to ultimately end their playoff chances. But while the Vols had a tough end because of that with star QB Hendon Hooker tearing his ACL to end his season, the Tigers still had life and found it as they won the ACC Championship Game over UNC with Dabo Swinney finally making a long-awaited change to Cade Klubnik at quarterback, which worked wonders.
Now, we’ll see Klubnik face off with Joe Milton for UT in this game in what should be a fascinating Orange Bowl matchup that will live up to the colorful name. And here’s everything you need to know while watching this contest.

Clemson opt-outs and injuries for the 2022 Orange Bowl
We’ll be seeing a lot of new faces for the Tigers in new roles, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Starters DJ Uiagalelei, WR Beaux Collins, WR Decari Collins and WR EJ Williams on offense won’t play after entering the transfer portal, the same of which is true for backup RB Kobe Pace. On defense, star DE Myles Murphy has opted out along with LB Trenton Simpson. The team will also be without DE Xavier Thomas due to an injury.
If there’s good news, it’s that the rest of the opt-outs, injuries and portal entries were all from backups, meaning Dabo Swinney will have the likes of Bryan Bresee, Cade Klubnik, Tyler Davis and more out there for his team in this matchup.
Tennessee opt-outs and injuries for the 2022 Orange Bowl
Though the Vols were known for a prolific offense, we won’t be seeing many of the familiar faces from that group on Friday night in Miami. Star quarterback Hendon Hooker tore his ACL in the loss to South Carolina, so Joe Milton will continue to start in his stead. Meanwhile, star receivers Jalin Hyatt and Cedric Tillman have opted out for the game to prepare for the NFL Draft, as has defensive leader and linebacker Jeremy Banks.
Meanwhile, the team will also be without several other players due to entering the transfer portal, but no one who has played a significant role in the 2022 season. The Vols did get good news as OT Darnell Wright and DE Byron Young, two key starters, have declared for the NFL Draft but plan to play in the bowl game.
