College Football Playoff: Peach Bowl crowd decidedly pro-Georgia
Which team’s fans showed out for the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl College Football Playoff semifinal game?
The second game of this year’s College Football Playoff features the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs and No. 4 Ohio State Buckeyes, and while that makes for a lot of red, Georgia fans are definitely the dominant force in Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
When the Ohio State Marching Band took the field for a traditional pregame performance, they were greeted with a rousing round of applause and cheers from Buckeye fans in attendance. As always, the “Dotting of the I” was a fun tradition to watch.
But then, the Georgia Redcoat band made their way onto the field, and things were brought to a new level. An energized Georgia fan base made themselves heard and continued the tradition of keeping every game away from Sanford Stadium a Georgia “home game”.
How much could crowd noise affect this College Football Playoff semifinal game?
If the pregame noise is an indication of how things will go, Ohio State may find itself facing some difficult downs as the crowd tries to keep the Ohio State offense off-balance.
Georgia has used crowd noise to its advantage both at home and on the road, and especially in neutral-site games at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, which is becoming a home away from home for the Dawgs, as they’re playing their third game of the season in the venue.
Ohio State depends on timing and finesse, which could be disrupted by a raucous crowd. Georgia’s fans will be doing their part to make things difficult on Ohio State quarterback CJ Stroud and the Buckeyes offense.
