The Georgia Bulldogs are heading back to the CFP National Championship Game after a late touchdown and missed field goal by the Ohio State Buckeyes in an intense Peach Bowl.

What a way for college football to end 2022 and begin 2023. Just when fans thought that nothing could top the chaotic second half of the Fiesta Bowl between TCU and Michigan, the Peach Bowl between Georgia and Ohio State brought the tension.

The Buckeyes were seemingly on their way to a victory and to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game, as they led 38-24 late in the third quarter. But, it was Georgia who dominated the fourth quarter, and they were able to do what looked impossible earlier in the second half — win.

Georgia was able to pick up the 42-41, nail-biting victory over Ohio State to advance to the CFP National Championship Game in California, where they will take on TCU.

After getting the football back with less than three minutes remaining, the Bulldogs were able to march down the field thanks to a huge 35-year pass from quarterback Stetson Bennett IV to wide receiver Kearis Jackson. Then, just two plays later, Bennett connected with Adonai Mitchell in the end zone for the touchdown to tie the game, and eventually take the lead one extra point later.

What a call.

While Bulldogs fans were elated in this moment, it set in that the Buckeyes still had 54-seconds left to kick a game-winning field goal. And Ohio State gave them quite the scare, thanks to a huge 27-yard run by quarterback C.J. Stroud to set them up at Georgia’s 31-yard line. But, on their next four plays, they lost one yard.

That left Noah Ruggles to kick a game-winning, 50-yard field goal to send Ohio State to SoFi Stadium to compete for the national title. The problem is, his kick sailed wide left, clinching the narrow victory for Georgia.

What a way to start the new year for the Bulldogs. As for the Buckeyes, they received quite the gut punch to being their 2023.
