The definitive collection of sad Michigan fans from upset loss to TCU in Playoff
ESPN did not shy away from showing all the sad Michigan fans in the stands at the Fiesta Bowl during their upset loss to TCU.
Michigan fans had pretty good reason to go into their New Year’s Eve playoff matchup against TCU.
Oddsmakers had them favored by a touchdown. They made it through the season undefeated. They beat Ohio State. They won the Big Ten title. Everything was coming together for a title run.
Then they ran into TCU.
The Horned Frogs punched them in the mouth early. They jumped out to a 14-0 lead. They took a 21-6 lead into halftime. Then they had an answer for every bit of pushback the Wolverines tried.
Throughout the game, ESPN camera caught the despair of Michigan fans in the stands. It was glorious schadenfreude.
The definitive collection of sad Michigan fans during CFP loss
Michigan fans have watched their season go down in flames in the College Football Playoff twice now. Last year they were humbled 34-11 by Georgia in the Orange Bowl. This year, they at least had a chance late, but the game still proved that they aren’t ready to win a championship.
Jim Harbaugh faced plenty of criticism from fans for his coaching performance in the game, especially as the Wolverines were soundly outplayed in the first half. The offense came alive in the second half but the defense struggled to get a stop in key moments.
With a Big Ten title in hand, Michigan’s season wasn’t a failure, but it sure ended painfully for those fans at the Fiesta Bowl.
