3 Georgia players who need to be better vs. TCU to win another natty
By John Buhler
Stetson Bennett IV is the first person who will tell you that he has to play better
He may have come to save the day in the 11th hour, but Stetson Bennett IV will be the first person to tell you that he has to play better. Bennett completed 23-of-34 passes for 398 yards, three touchdowns and a pick, as well as a scamper to pay dirt, but C.J. Stroud was the better quarterback throughout the game. Bennett knows what Max Duggan is capable of over on the TCU sidelines.
Admittedly, it will take a herculean effort out of Duggan to slay the Dawgs next Monday. However, TCU has built a reputation this season as being somewhat of giant killers, and there is no bigger giant in college football today than Georgia. Conversely, nobody plays his best football under center when it is required more often than Bennett. We have regularly seen The Mailman deliver.
Ultimately, Bennett needs to play with a bit more confidence early in what will be his final game in Red and Black. Should Georgia navigate this season to perfection, Bennett will have gone 15-0 as a starter this year. Let’s not rule out the fact he becomes the most celebrated player in Georgia football history. Winning back-to-back national titles can do it, as well as not running for Senate…
For all the marbles, Bennett has the shot to create an impenetrable legacy in Georgia football lore.
