TCU Horned Frogs offensive coordinator Garrett Riley won’t provide his older brother, USC head coach Lincoln Riley, tickets for the CFP National Championship Game.

The TCU Horned Frogs once again look to pull off one of the biggest upsets in College Football Playoff history. Last week, they held their own against the Michigan Wolverines in the Fiesta Bowl, pulling ahead to a massive lead and holding back a late comeback attempt to win 41-35. Now, they are set to face off against the Georgia Bulldogs in the CFP National Championship Game on Monday, Jan. 9.  Credit can be given to the success of Sonny Dykes’ coaching staff, with offensive coordinator Garrett Riley being one of their standouts.

Of course, Garrett Riley is the younger brother of USC Trojans head coach Lincoln Riley. With that, there had to be some speculation as to whether Lincoln would be at the National Championship Game to cheer on his younger brother.

While speaking with the media on Saturday, Garrett said that Lincoln would be attending the game, but he didn’t provide tickets for him. The younger Riley brother said “I’m sure he can find some tickets.”

Prior to arriving to TCU, Garrett was a quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator for the SMU Mustangs from 2020 until 2021. Dykes was the head coach of the team for those two years before taking the job to lead the Horned Frogs.

In his first season as offensive coordinator, the Horned Frogs averaged 474.1 offensive yards (13th in nation), and 41.1 points (fifth in nation) per game.

Riley worked with quarterback Max Duggan, who was impressive throughout the season using his arm and legs. In 14 games this season, Duggan has thrown for 3,546 yards, 32 touchdowns, and six interceptions while owning a 63.7 completion percentage. Duggan ran for 461 yards and eight touchdowns on 127 carries. Duggan was TCU’s first Heisman finalist since LaDainian Tomlinson in 2000, and finished runner up to win Caleb Williams, the quarterback for Lincoln’s USC Trojans.

In Riley’s first year with USC, he led the program to their first bowl appearance since 2019. The Trojans lost to the Utah Utes in the Pac-12 Championship Game, and lost 46-45 to the Tulane Green Wave in the Cotton Bowl, despite holding a 45-30 lead with over four minutes remaining in regulation.
