On Monday, Jan. 9, the College Football Playoff National Championship Game will take place, where the No.1 Georgia Bulldogs take on the No. 3 TCU Horned Frogs. Kickoff is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. ET and will be airing on ESPN.
The Bulldogs will look to win the CFP National Championship for the second consecutive year, while TCU looks to pull off yet another one of the biggest upsets in the tournament’s history with a victory.
Prior to the CFP National Championship Game, there are pregame festivities held, notably the singing of “America the Beautiful” and the “Star-Spangled Banner.” For those wondering who will be singing both songs, we have the answers for you.
Who is singing America the Beautiful at the National Championship Game?
According to the official website of the College Football Playoff, “America the Beautiful” will be sung by the Chamber Choir of the Academy of Music and Performing Arts (AMPA) at Alexander Hamilton High School in Los Angeles, Calif.
The AMPA, per the CFP official website, “is a Los Angeles Unified School District magnet program that, for the last 30 years, has served as an education model, bridging performing arts with academic standards including a rigorous curriculum.”
Who is singing the Star-Spangled Banner at the National Championship Game?
Grammy Award-winning a capella group Pentatonix will be performing the “Star-Spangled Banner” ahead of the CFP National Championship Game.
Pentatonix won the third season of the NBC competition show, The Sing-Off. The musical group won the Grammy Award three times — twice for Best Arrangement, Instrumental or A Capella (2015-16) and once for Best Country Duo/Group Performance (2017).
Two of Pentatonix’s albums went platinum. Their 2014 album “That’s Christmas to Me,” went platinum twice. Their 2016 album, “A Pentatonix Christmas,” also went platinum.
