The CFP National Championship Game between Georgia and TCU is one of the biggest sports events of the year, but who is singing the national anthem?

There will be no shortage of eyes on SoFi Stadium on Monday night as the College Football Playoff National Championship Game will go down between the Georgia Bulldogs and TCU Horned Frogs. And with that, the choices for who sings the national anthem and participates in all of the festivities will be under the watch of many fans as well.

While there have been some questionable anthem performances in sports over the years, even for big events, the College Football Playoff rarely misses. And that doesn’t look like it will be the case for the 2023 National Championship Game either.

Here’s everything you need to know about the national anthem performance for the matchup between Georgia and TCU.

Pentatonix performing the national anthem at the CFP National Championship Game

Three-time Grammy Award-winning a capella group Pentatonix will be performing the national anthem at SoFi Stadium for the CFP National Championship Game on Monday, Jan. 9. They have risen to extreme popularity since making their debut in 2011 and winning NBC’s reality singing competition Sing-Off.

Pentatonix members, best songs, origins: Everything to know

Pentatonix formed in 2011 in Arlington, TX and consists of five members: Mitch Grassi, Kristin Maldonado, Scott Hoying, Kevin Olusola and Matt Sallee. Sallee was not an original member but replaced original bass Avi Kaplan when they left the group back in 2017.

The group has garnered a ton of popularity for the YouTube presence and tours but have won three Grammy Awards, including two for Best Arrangement, Intrumental or A Cappella in 2015 (“Daft Punk”) and 2016 (“Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy”). They also won the other for Best Country Duo/Group Performance in 2017 for their rendition of “Jolene” with Dolly Parton. Pentatonix has also been nominated for a Grammy this year for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album for their project Evergreen.

Over their 11-12 years since forming, the group has released 11 studio albums, five compilation albums and six EPs. Two of their albums have reached No. 1 on the US charts with 2015’s self-titled Pentatonix and their next, 2016’s A Pentatonix Christmas, both reach the top spot. 2014’s That’s Christmas to Me reached No. 2 on the charts.

Despite their worldwide success, Pentatonix has never charted a No. 1 song in the US with their highest-charting song coming in 2013 with their rendition of “Little Drummer Boy” reaching No. 13. In 2016, the group’s version of “Hallelujah” became their second biggest song as it reached No. 23 on the US charts.
