There is no Monday Night Football on January 9th. That’s sad. But why is that? And what can you watch to get your football fix instead?

If you checked the guide for tonight, you saw a sad story if you’re an NFL fan: No Monday Night Football for the first time in 18 weeks. Why is that?

Firstly, you’re in luck if you’re simply looking for a football fix. You can watch the College Football Playoff National Championship Game between TCU and Georgia tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN. Stream it on Fubo.tv.

Why isn’t there a Monday Night Football game tonight, January 9th?

Simply, the NFL’s regular season is over. While the first 17 weeks of the season featured at least one Monday Night Football game, the final week of the year traditionally takes place on Saturday and Sunday, with no Monday game scheduled.

That gives playoff teams at least six days of rest before Super Wild Card Weekend, which kicks off on Saturday.

Thankfully, we actually will have more Monday Night Football next week on January 16th, as the finale of Super Wild Card Weekend will be between the Dallas Cowboys and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
