5 Georgia stars who won’t be back and their replacements for 2023

The Georgia Bulldogs must replace many of its best players off its latest championship team.
While the Georgia Bulldogs have won back-to-back College Football Playoffs, three-peating will be easier said than done for Kirby Smart’s team.
When asked if you will take Georgia or the field in 2023, don’t kid yourself; you will probably pause for at least a good second and think about it. How can the Dawgs possibly three-peat in the College Football Playoff era? Though one could argue that this year’s team was better than last season’s breakthrough championship squad, much of this roster will be coming back for next year.
However, the Dawgs will lose a few big-time players off their latest national championship team.

Replacing Stetson Bennett IV is an impossible task, but someone has to do it
There will never be another Stetson Bennett IV in Georgia football history. The former walk-on became the greatest player in program history over the course of six years. He may already be 25-years-old, but what he did in Bulldogs uniform will never be duplicated. For those outside of Dawg Nation, you are going to hate the fact Bennett will not only be drafted, but he will play on Sundays.
Undersized, discounted forever, The Mailman always delivered in the clutch when the Dawgs needed him the most. Having played at the same school that has given us Fran Tarkenton and Matthew Stafford, Bennett is in a class of his own in terms of Georgia lore. He will make some NFL team’s quarterback room better overnight, initially as a backup, but will start games at some point.

No matter what comes next, Bennett will go down as college football’s version of Kurt Warner.
Georgia replacement for Stetson Bennett IV: Carson Beck
A big reason why the Dawgs have a realistic shot at three-peating is the state of its quarterback room already. Former four-star Carson Beck will duke it out with former five-star and local product Brock Vandagriff for the starting job. Sophomore Gunner Stockton may have a say in this as well, but Beck has shown at times over the last two seasons that he is very much a Power Five starter.
Whoever has the best command of Todd Monken’s offense will lead the Dawgs out of the tunnel.
