Carlos Correa signed with the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday, passing his physical in the process. Correa had a lot to say about his dramatic free agency.
Carlos Correa had plenty to say about his whirlwind 2022-23 free agency period, which included him agreeing to terms with three separate organizations, only to end up back where it all began.
Correa played the 2022 season with the Minnesota Twins, and he will now be there for the foreseeable future, signing a six-year, $200 million guaranteed contract that includes vested options beyond 2028.
At his introductory press conference, Correa did not open up about his experiences with the Giants and Mets, but did comment on his injury.
“Doctors have differences of opinions. I had a lot of doctors tell me that I was fine, some doctors that said it wasn’t so fine,” Correa said. “It was shocking to me because since I had the surgery, I never missed a game.”

“It was definitely an emotional roller-coaster,” Correa said. “The whole process was crazy. The end game was great.”
With Correa returning, Minnesota instantly becomes one of the favorites in the AL Central, along with last year’s champion, the Cleveland Guardians.
The Twins will enter the 2023 season with a new look, as well, and Correa was impressed.
Per agent Scott Boras, Minnesota remained in near-constant communication throughout the process, which made them an easy suitor once conversations with the Mets broke down. Correa’s Twins teammates, including outfielder Byron Buxton, spoke with him nearly every day to keep him in good spirits.
When news broke that he was coming back, Correa noted that he received calls from nearly all of his Minnesota teammates.
Perhaps most exciting of all for Correa is that he can raise his son, Kylo, in the Minneapolis area. It’s something Correa had to take into account when picking a new home.
