The Dallas Cowboys have officially decided who they will be rolling with as their kicker against the San Francisco 49ers in the divisional round.

The day after Dallas Cowboys kicker Brett Maher missed four extra-point attempts in a single game, a record in all the worst ways, fans were wondering what the Dallas Cowboys’ options were to replace Maher on the roster for the Cowboys’ remaining playoff games.

Sometimes, in these games, a single point or a field goal is the entire difference. A kicker is ever-important in the postseason, so the Cowboys need to have a level of confidence in the position.

We know they do. CeeDee Lamb, Dak Prescott, Mike McCarthy, Jerry Jones and others have voiced their support of the kicker. He’s been good overall this year. He hit 50 of 53 attempted XPs, and 29 of 32 field goals. But they did bring in an option this week by signing Tristan Vizcaino to the practice squad.

So, will the Cowboys stand by him or switch it up and roll with the new add?

We’ve got our answer.

Who is Cowboys kicker against 49ers in NFL Playoffs divisional round?

Vizcaino was not activated from the practice squad. So on Sunday, by default, Brett Maher is the guy for the Dallas Cowboys. No change here and the Cowboys put their words of support for Maher on the line. The leash has been re-extended for Maher, so what he showed in practice this week must have been at least workable.

If he has a performance as he did in the Wild Card round and the Cowboys advance, it will certainly be a different story. But it’s hard to see him having two games that bad after being a relatively consistent kicker throughout his career. After all, before the nightmare record he set on Monday, he set a record for most field goals made beyond 60 yards. He’s not bad.

Brett Maher it is! We’ll see how this goes. The Niners, as it stands, are a favorite.
