4. Miles Sanders and Kenneth Gainwell will run wild
The talent of Philadelphia’s offensive line is going to give the Eagles a decided advantage when it comes to running the football on Sunday. The talented running back duo of Miles Sanders and Kenneth Gainwell is going to find a lot of room to run.
Sanders has been the starter for most of the year but no one will be surprised to see Gainwell get more work in this game. He was the more effective runner in the NFC Championship game and he’ll want to keep that momentum going in the Super Bowl.
Specifically, Gainwell has a great chance to use his speed to gain valuable yards on the perimeter. That should keep him away from the aforementioned Jones on inside runs. Nick Bolton is an athletic presence for Kansas City at middle linebacker but he can’t run Gainwell down if he gets a yard of space on the corner of the formation.
Throw in the idea that Jalen Hurts can freeze the Chiefs’ defense with run fakes and bootlegs and it’s easy to construct a scenario where the Eagles win this game on the ground. Sanders and Gainwell might split Super Bowl glory from a statistical perspective but it will be enough to earn championship rings when the final whistle sounds.
