The Kansas City Chiefs have been without running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire for a chunk of the season. Will he play in Super Bowl 57?

The Kansas City Chiefs are looking to win their third Super Bowl title in franchise history on Sunday, Feb. 12. The AFC champions will be at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, AZ. to take on the Philadelphia Eagles, the NFC champions.

Kansas City had the best record in the AFC this season, but they had to overcome some adversity in the form of quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ ankle injury. They were able to get past the Jacksonville Jaguars in the Divisional Round and the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship Game to make it to the Super Bowl for the third time in four years.

Considering they will be facing a tough Eagles team, fans are probably wondering if they will have a full roster of their usual contributors. One name that is of interest is running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire, who has been sidelined since Week 11 with a high ankle sprain. So, is he playing?

Will Cylde Edwards-Helaire play in Super Bowl 57 for Chiefs?

Edwards-Helaire will not be playing in Super Bowl 57, as the team listed him as inactive. Since he wasn’t on the team’s injury report, Edwards-Helaire is a healthy inactive.

The third-year running back was activated off the injured reserve by the team earlier this week. In a corresponding move, wide receiver Mecole Hardman was placed on the injured reserve due to a pelvic injury.

Prior to his injury, Edwards-Helaire ran for 302 yards and three touchdowns on 71 carries, while catching 17-of-23 targets for 151 yards and three touchdowns.

The Chiefs have seen rookie seventh-round selection Isiah Pacheco make a statement this season. He’s the team’s leading rusher after recording 830 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns on 170 carries.

Then there’s Jerick McKinnon, who has the second most receiving touchdowns on the team with nine, just three behind team-leader Travis Kelce. Not to mention McKinnon caught 56 receptions (third-most) for 512 yards (fourth-most) on 71 targets (fourth-most).

With Edwards-Helaire inactive for Super Bowl 57, expect to see a lot of Pacheco and McKinnon for Kansas City in the game, which starts at 6:30 pm. ET.
