Warriors rumors: Patrick Beverley hints at joining Steph Curry and Golden State
Patrick Beverley needs a new home after agreeing to a buyout with the Magic. One tweet made it clear the Warriors would be a welcome landing spot.
Patrick Beverley has been traded three times in less than a year. The latest swap saw the Lakers ship the guard to Orlando, where he promptly worked out a buyout and was waived.
Now he’s on the open market and looking to find a place on a contender for the second half of the season.
Could the Warriors pick him up? It sounds like Beverley would be game.
Patrick Beverley calls playing with Warriors a “dream”
When a fan tweeted Beverley about the idea of him taking the court with Draymond Green and the Warriors, the ex-Laker seemed to welcome the thought.
“Winning at the highest level. A players dream,” Beverley wrote in reply.
Beverley has been a fan favorite at multiple stops in his career thanks to his energy and zeal. He’s also made enemies in some fanbases, specifically the Suns, because of his antics on the court. He was suspended while playing for the Clippers after pushing Chris Paul in the playoffs in 2021. This season, he had to sit for three games after shoving Deandre Ayton in the back.
The Warriors will come out of the NBA All-Star Break sitting ninth in the Western Conference. If they want to avoid being part of the play-in (or missing the postseason entirely), they could use some reinforcements for Steph Curry and company, especially with the star missing time with an injury.
Beverley shot 51.7 percent from the field while averaging 6.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 0.9 steals with the Lakers this year.
The 34-year-old could be an interesting addition for Golden State, especially with Gary Payton II dealing with an injury. His defense would be a difference-maker. However, the price would have to be right since the Warriors would have too make room for the veteran.
