Golden State Warriors guard Steph Curry was named a starter for the 2023 NBA All-Star Game. But will an injury prevent him from playing?

The 2023 NBA All-Star Game is scheduled to take place on Sunday, Feb. 19, live from Salt Lake City, Utah. At the end of January, the league announced the 10 players would be starting in the annual All-Star Game. One of the five players that were selected to represent the Western Conference was none other than Golden State Warriors guard Steph Curry.

Curry was set to start in his ninth All-Star Game, but then injury struck. Back on Feb. 4, Curry suffered a leg injury when his knee collided with Dallas Mavericks McKinley Wright IV. It was later revealed that he had suffered partial tears of the superior tibiofibular ligaments and interosseous membrane, in addition to a leg contusion.

With the injury and the All-Star Game approaching, can fans expect Curry to play?

Will Steph Curry play in the 2023 NBA All-Star Game?

Curry will not be on the court at Vivint Arena playing in the All-Star Game. He is being replaced by Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant.

At the time of the announcement of Curry’s injuries, the Warriors revealed that Curry didn’t have a timetable to return. The team also announced that Curry would be re-evaluated after the All-Star break. Head coach Steve Kerr was confident that Curry would be able to return this season.

Just last year, Curry won the 2022 NBA All-Star Game MVP award after scoring 50 points after making 17-of-30 shots from the field and 16-of-27 shots from the three-point line. Curry also recorded five rebounds, two assists, two blocks, and one steal.

This season, Curry is averaging 29.4 points, 6.4 assists, and 6.3 rebounds while shooting 49.5 percent from the field and 42.7 percent from the three-point line.

So there you have it, Curry will not be playing in the All-Star Game, and will instead be replaced in the starting lineup by Morant.
