The Combine is going and free agency is closing in, which means NFL rumors are swirling about Lamar Jackson, Cowboys free agents, Jaguars cuts and more.

There is obviously a lot to watch at the NFL Combine, most notably watching prospects like Georgia EDGE Nolan Smith or Pitt DT Calijah Kancey tear up the athletic testing and almost surely raise their respective draft stocks. However, it’s also a time when NFL Rumors are getting passed around like crazy.

Whether it’s players talking at the Combine in Indianapolis, teams negotiating and chatting with agents, prospects, reporters and players, or something in between, the Combine is one of the best news cycles of the year.

So let’s catch up on some of the biggest NFL rumors coming around right now.

NFL Rumors: Cowboys likely to let Dalton Schultz go in free agency

There’s only one franchise tag that every NFL team can use per season and that’s a difficult spot for the Dallas Cowboys to be in this offseason. Entering free agency, both running back Tony Pollard and tight end Dalton Schultz are at the end of their respective contracts. Again, though, they can only tag one.

And now the writing on the wall is that’s likely going to be Pollard.

Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News reported on Thursday that there is “little momentum” between the Cowboys and Schultz in contract negotiations right now. Moreover, the report says that, if nothing changes, then Schultz will be able to test free agency when the negotiation period begins on March 13.

Schultz played this past season on the franchise tag after the two sides couldn’t reach a deal and continued to be productive. Over the past three seasons, he’s been targeted 282 times by Dak Prescott for 198 catches, 2,000 yards and 17 touchdowns.

He’ll be missed in the Cowboys offense as, simply, they likely can’t match his market value. With that said, Dallas has started to plan for life without Schultz after adding Jake Ferguson and Peyton Hendershot in the draft last offseason.
