F1 grid today: Qualifying results for Bahrain 2023
By Josh Wilson
Here is how the F1 grid will look tomorrow for Bahrain 2023.
The first two days of the F1 regular season are behind us, with three practice sessions and qualifying over at Bahrain. Practice sessions are informative but sometimes hard to glean much information from. Teams routinely try to veil what they truly are working with, especially teams poised for the start of the grid.
Case in point, Red Bull Racing struggled in practices relative to expectations and came away with a front-row lockout for Sunday’s Grand Prix.
Here’s a look at the qualifying results and the starting grid:
F1 grid tomorrow: F1 Bahrain starting grid 2023
- Max Verstappen
- Sergio Perez
- Charles Leclerc
- Carlos Sainz
- Fernando Alonso
- Geroge Russell
- Lewis Hamilton
- Lance Stroll
- Esteban Ocon

- Valtteri Bottas
- Zhou Guanyu
- Yuki Tsunoda
- Alexander Albon
- Logan Sargeant
- Kevin Magnussen
- Oscar Piastri
- Nyck de Vries
- Pierre Gasly
So, here’s how the grid will look, by row and team:
- Red Bull/Red Bull
- Ferrari/Ferrari
- Aston Martin/Mercedes
- Mercedes/Aston Martin
- Alpine/Haas
- McLaren/Alfa Romeo
- Alfa Romeo/Alpha Tauri
- Williams/Williams
- Haas/McLaren
- Alpha Tauri/Alpine
The true story to watch here is row two’s pressure on row 1. The Red Bulls have a lockout on the front row now, but with a long straight to the first turn, the Ferraris could pressure and potentially overtake one or both cars since Ferrari owns the second row.
Ferrari pulled out of qualifying early in the third and final stage in a strategy move to conserve tires. The team felt that it did not have the speed to compete for P1, but that strong tires at P3 and P4 for Sunday would put them in a stronger position to achieve points and a podium.
We’ll see how that pays off for them.
