NASCAR Truck Series: Who won the Victoria’s Voice Foundation 200?
By Eric Treuden
NASCAR’s Craftsman Truck Series raced at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Friday evening. Who took home the trophy?
Unlike the Cup Series and Xfinity Series, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series had off last week. This week, it’s back on and at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
To begin the day, Kyle Busch, the best Truck Series driver of all time, came down from Cup to show that he’s still got it at his hometown track. He promptly earned the pole for the evening’s race.
“Rowdy” used to regularly go down to the Trucks and dominate week in and week out. However, newer rules prevent Cup drivers from going down to Trucks more than five times a year.
Busch’s first race of the year in the series proved to be a good one, as he predictably dominated the night. He took home the checkered flag after over Daytona winner and 2022 series champ Zane Smith.
For Busch, this is the 63rd career win for him in the Truck Series, first on the all-time leaderboard.
NASCAR Truck Series: Kyle Busch dominates at Las Vegas
Just a week after winning the Cup race at Fontana in his second race with Richard Childress Racing, Busch is pulling triple duty this weekend, appearing in the Trucks, Xfinity and Cup races.
Smith won Stage 1 while Carson Hocevar, one of the sport’s up-and-coming stars, took home Stage 2, earning some much-needed playoff points along the way.
Earlier in the race, multiple big names were taken out for different reasons. Hailie Deegan and Nicholas Sanchez, the polesitter at the Daytona race, went out thanks to a wreck and John Hunter Nemechek retired early thanks to a vibration in his truck.
