LeBron James is already campaigning for Bronny to get drafted
By Ian Levy
LeBron James isn’t shy about promoting the NBA Draft prospects of Bronny. Last night he made clear his son could already be an NBA star.
LeBron James has long been a passionate advocate for the basketball future of his son, Bronny. The younger James is currently a senior in high school and will be eligible for the 2024 NBA Draft. He’s been regularly ranked as a potential first-round pick and ESPN’s Jonathan Givony recently went so far as to project him as a top-10 pick.
Bronny has already been linked to several high-profile college programs, including Duke, Kentucky and Ohio State, although he has yet to share his plans for next season. LeBron, for his part, has already bragged about being able to get Bronny into any college he wants with one phone call. And last night, he took to Twitter to do a little more bragging about his kid.
Robby Kalland of DIME put on his detective hat and tried to figure out which player LeBron may have been watching last night that inspired those comments. (My money is on Kira Lewis Jr. who played 19 minutes for the Pelicans and finished 1-of-7 from the field).
Where will Bronny James end up in the 2024 NBA Draft?
We are a long way away from the 2024 NBA Draft and it’s hard to know exactly who could be in the mix to select him. However, the Houston Rockets and Oklahoma City Thunder seem like they could have good shots.
The Rockets own their own pick as long as it finishes in the top four, as well as the Nets’ first-round pick. The Thunder have their own pick, Houston’s if it falls outside the top-four, the Clippers’ pick and the Jazz’s pick if it doesn’t fall in the top 10. And of course, there’s a chance that whoever drafts Bronny could also end up adding LeBron James in free agency during the same summer.
