Bronny James isn’t the best prospect in his class. But he offers more than talent and that might make him the most valuable.

Bronny James is ranked as the 34th-best prospect in his class by 247 Sports. ESPN has him at 28th. But despite that, he is reportedly entertaining offers or considering prestigious college programs like Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, Memphis, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio State, Oregon, UCLA and USC.

That’s the advantage of having the greatest player in NBA history as your father. Adding Bronny James to your college program doesn’t just bring an athletic 6-foot-3 guard with strong defensive chops and offensive upside. It likely brings an enormous amount of national attention and a whole new fanbase.

In a recent conversation with Bill Oram of The Oregonian, LeBron made clear he understands the power of his influence in the recruiting prospect: “I think Bronny can go to any college he wants to. All I have to do is pick up the phone. If Bronny says he wants to go there, he’s good enough.”

Where will Bronny James play college basketball?

Betting odds have Ohio State and USC as the favorites, followed by Oregon and Kentucky, but anything is in play at this point. However, whichever team lands Bronny James may only be getting him for a single season.

It has widely been assumed that Bronny will enter the 2024 NBA Draft. LeBron will be an unrestricted free agent that offseason and could theoretically sign with whichever team selects Bronny, giving them a chance to play together as father and son. LeBron recently poured some cold water on this theory but that isn’t going to stop NBA teams from chasing the possibility.
