NFL rumors: Aaron Rodgers’ trade destinations will be limited this offseason
If Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers created a Tinder profile, very few teams would be swiping right.
That’s according to a report by Michael Silver of Bally Sports who believes a breakup between Rodgers and the Packers is more likely to happen than a reconciliation.
If that’s the case, Rodgers’ list of suitors has exactly one team on it: the New York Jets.
Other quarterback-needy teams have been rumored to a Rodgers trade, including the Las Vegas Raiders and San Francisco 49ers, but per Silver’s sources, neither of those teams want Rodgers that badly:
"High-level sources at the Raiders and San Francisco 49ers, two teams who’ve been mentioned as potential trade options, have told me that making a run at him is highly unlikely. It’s possible that Raiders owner Mark Davis would spearhead a push for the quarterback, with general manager Dave Ziegler likely feeling out the Packers to see what a deal would look like, but at this point, Rodgers coming to Las Vegas feels like a long shot."
The Summer of Rodgers bears striking similarities with the Summer of Favre, and Rodgers could indeed follow the same path Brett Favre went down a decade ago. This offseason, the Jets have made it crystal clear that Rodgers is their most wanted man, making Derek Carr wait to the point where he ultimately picked a different team.

- Packers, Jets have likely agreed on Aaron Rodgers trade terms
- Packers are desperate to get rid of Aaron Rodgers
Like a scene taken out of Everything Everywhere All At Once, there are an endless amount of choices and alternatives for Rodgers to contemplate in 2023. In one parallel universe, Rodgers is playing with the Jets. In another, Rodgers enjoys retirement in Cabo and drinks margaritas with Tom (unless he, too, comes back?). In yet another, Rodgers is vaccinated, easygoing, and affable, the picture-perfect role model at a thriving Packers organization.
The Packers want Rodgers to be more invested in the organization. No one knows what Rodgers wants yet. When this domino starts the fall, the Jets — and only the Jets — will be waiting.
