Footage of former Georgia star Jalen Carter getting pulled over by the police has surfaced.

The police stop video of Jalen Carter from back in late September will hurt the former Georgia star’s NFL Draft stock in some capacity.

No, this is not footage from the tragic events that happened over on Barnett Shoals hours after midnight the day after the championship parade in Athens. Carter fled the scene of the accident that took the lives of Chandler LeCroy and Devin Willock. This police stop video stems is from Sept. 22. Carter was stopped by the police for doing 89 in a 45 mph zone. He was not arrested, but still.

Carter is a generational talent at defensive tackle, but let’s hope can avoid derailing his NFL career.

Not to say Carter is falling out of the top 10, but the Atlanta Falcons might pass on him at No. 8…

Jalen Carter police stop video is another red flag in his downtrending draft stock

Look. I’m not anything close to a general manager, but I would still take him if I needed a defensive star and my team was picking inside the top 10. I can totally understand how he may be off some teams’ draft boards. However, I would rather have the next Ndamukong Suh playing for my team than against mine. Regardless, I want nothing but the best for him, but he needs to stop speeding.

We can only hope that fateful night in Athens changed Carter’s life for the better. If he learns from his mistakes, we are looking at a hall-of-fame-level talent entering the NFL. Carter was the best player on the best team in the country. It would be such a shame if reckless driving brought a swift end to that. He will have first-round money, so he can get a chauffeur and focus on what matters.

To put this all in perspective, it is not really about football. I just want a fellow Dawg who meant so much to Georgia to be safe and live a good life. While this encounter with the police occurred months before the tragic accident in January, Carter did not seem to take his excessive speeding issues seriously. Not everyone is going to pass on him, but Will Anderson Jr. is going before him…

Let’s hope Carter gets drafted by the right team that gets him the support he needs to be his best.
