Taking a look at the projected Masters cut line for 2023 and asking the ever-important question: Is Tiger Woods going to make the cut?

In the first round of The Masters in 2023, there were a lot of big names putting up crazy good scores at Augusta National Golf Club, taking advantage of the favorable weather conditions on Thursday — something likely not to be the case for the rest of the week.

Viktor Hovland jumped out to a big lead with a phenomenal 5-under start on the front nine at Augusta National and moved it to 7-under on the back nine. Meanwhile, Jon Rahm rebounded from a double-bogey on the first hole to make six birdies and an eagle and be nipping at Hovland’s heels. Guys like Xander Schauffele, Shane Lowry, Brooks Koepka, Camron Young and Adam Scott also got off to big starts.

Tiger Woods, unfortunately, was much like the majority of the field, though, grinding slightly over par. Tiger bogeyed three of his first seven holes, but then started to fight back with a birdie on No. 8. He gave it back on No. 11 with another bogey, but then had back-to-back birdies at Nos. 15 and 16 to get to +1 for the day. Unfortunately, a bogey on 18 put him at +2.

That has people wondering about the Masters cut and if Tiger would make it. So let’s take a look at The Masters cut line prediction and if Woods will make it to play the weekend.

Projected Masters cut line for 2023 tournament

Midway through the first round at The Masters, it’s looking like the Masters cut line will be somewhere slightly over par. The Datagolf projections as of Thursday at 3:30 p.m. ET have it as a 29.3% chance that the cut will be at +1, a 36.3% chance it will be at +2, and a 19.3% chance it will end up at +3.

These are live predictions based on their statistical model, but it seems likely that things settle somewhere in that range. Perhaps inclement weather on Friday that is expected will push it higher though with fewer players able to post low scores.

Is Tiger Woods going to make the cut at The Masters?

As of right now, Tiger Woods making the cut at The Masters is going to be a close call. He’s sitting at +2 after his first round. While there is a 55.6% chance that the cut is +2 or +3, the fact of the matter is that would still require him to shoot even par or better on Friday to make the cut. Thus, it’s going to be a sweat to see if Tiger makes the weekend.
