Georgia lands Elyiss Williams’ five-star commitment as a tight end for the 2025 cycle.

The Georgia Bulldogs are not paying Todd Hartley enough, as their noted tight end coach helped the Dawgs pull in another blue-chip prospect at his position group, this time being five-star Elyiss Williams.

Although Williams may be listed as an edge rusher on the 247Sports Composite, he has gotten assurances that he will play tight end at Georgia for Hartley on Kirby Smart’s staff.

Here is what Williams had to say to DawgNation about deciding to Commit to the G on Saturday.

"“The talks with Coach [Kirby] Smart and [Todd] Hartley. I grew up on the Georgia Bulldogs and I have an opportunity to stay home and be a part of the dynasty. That’s a tough decision to deny and I felt like it was a perfect time.”"

And here is the sweet On3 graphic showing the Folkston, Georgia native will be staying home.

With Darnell Washington turning pro, Brock Bowers back for his junior year after winning the Mackey and Oscar Delp poised for a breakout sophomore season, the best just keep getting better.

Georgia asserts its dominance at Tight End U with Elyiss Williams’ commitment

According to the 247Sports Composite, Williams is the No. 1 player at his position group in 2025, the No. 3 player from Georgia and the No. 13 player nationally. Williams had 13 official offers, including ones from Auburn, Florida, Florida State and Miami, but this felt like an easy choice for him to stay in-state. Now comes the best part of committing early: Helping build up your class.

As stated above, Williams is only No. 3 in-state. Rated above him are defensive lineman Elijah Griffin from Savannah (No. 1 overall) and linebacker Zayden Walker from Ellaville (No. 8 overall). It is still very early in the process for all three, but Griffin seems to be leaning heavily towards the Dawgs, while Walker is drawing interest from the likes of Alabama and Auburn in his recruitment.

Overall, Williams’ commitment gives the Dawgs a sizable lead over everyone in the 2025 cycle. They are also leading Michigan in the recruiting rankings for 2024. Should the Dawgs end up with No. 1 overall prospect in Nebraska legacy quarterback Dylan Raiola, we are looking at potentially another top-rated recruiting class for Georgia under Smart’s dynastic tenure at his alma mater.

Even if Williams is technically defined as an athlete, he is going to play some tight end for UGA.
