Deion Sanders met Ralphie for the first time on Folsom Field as Colorado’s head football coach.

Deion Sanders meeting Ralphie for the first time went exactly as you thought it would go. Coach Prime just met a full-grown female buffalo!

Expected to do great things at Colorado, Sanders is getting accustomed to the rich and one-of-a-kind history of Colorado athletics. While the Buffs have struggled on the gridiron for much of the 21st century, they do have one of the coolest traditions in college football. Five students run with a full-grown female buffalo onto Folsom Field to start every home game. It is electrifying stuff.

Here is Sanders meeting the prettiest girl in Boulder for the first time. Coach Prime so was nervous! I mean, why wouldn’t he be?

Okay, no. Sanders wasn’t nervous; he was actually terrified the entire time! He is Prime Time, but she is a full-grown buffalo!

If Sanders taught us anything on the finest of Tuesdays, it is to face your fears head-on like this.

Colorado football: Deion Sanders meeting Ralphie for the first time was fantastic

I appreciate Sanders being very respectful when around Ralphie. He is a gentleman after all. She’s pretty cute, right? But with a tongue like a brick, she’s bound to chew your digits off faster than you can scream “those aren’t oats or corn?!” The best part about Coach Prime meeting Ralphie was he got to see her run, and then come sprinting back into her trailer like she is Ruth Langmore.

Sanders was standing inside of the trailer as Ralphie and her five co-ed handlers came sprinting back toward him. Although he used to be able to fly around the football field, keep in mind that Sanders has a few less toes than he used to, so he does limp a bit in his gait. To see a full-grown buffalo come running towards you when you have nowhere to go has to be a frightening ordeal.

Ultimately, I hope Sanders facing his fears to some extent will go a long way with his players to help the Buffs go from 1-11 a year ago to achieving bowl eligibility this holiday season. A 6-6 campaign would be as majestic for the Colorado program as is Ralphie running around in her favorite playpen known as Folsom Field. At the end of the day, humans and buffalo are mammals.

Coach Prime meeting Ralphie is why college football will always be the best sport on the planet.
