Georgia Bulldogs defensive lineman Bear Alexander is entering the transfer portal, and a former Oklahoma Sooner star is already recruiting.

The Georgia Bulldogs held their annual spring game this Saturday, as they prepare to go for the three-peat as national champions in the College Football Playoff era.

But on the day of the spring game, the spring window for the transfer portal opened up, and the team was informed of one of their defensive linemen intends to play elsewhere, and that is Bear Alexander.

Alexander, a four-star recruit, is going to be a sought after player in the transfer portal, where a favorite has already been revealed.

However, one former star player for the Oklahoma Sooners is beginning his recruiting pitch. That player is none other than former defensive tackle for the Sooners and Tampa Bay Buccaneers Gerald McCoy, who said via a GIF that it’s “time to go to work.”

Gerald McCoy begins recruiting pitch to bring Bear Alexander to Oklahoma

McCoy was a former five-star recruit back in the class of 2006, ranking as the best prospect in the state of Oklahoma and the second-best defensive tackle in the country, per 247 Sports. In 2007, McCoy was the Big 12’s Defensive Freshman of the Year, and earned two first-team All-American honors in 2008 and 2009.

In his three years playing for the Sooners, McCoy recorded 83 combined tackles (51 solo, 32 assisted), 33 tackles for loss, 14.5 sacks, two defended passes and two forced fumbles.

After declaring for the 2010 NFL Draft, he was selected third-overall by the Buccaneers.

Alexander had joined the Bulldogs program as a four-star recruit last year. He played in just eight games this past season, where he notably recorded one sack in Georgia’s 65-7 win over the TCU Horned Frogs in the national championship game. On the year, he recorded nine combined tackles (five solo, four assisted), two sacks and two passes defended.

It will remain to be seen where exactly Alexander will transfer to, but McCoy has hinted that he will try to recruit him to play for the Sooners.
