Texas message boards call Arch Manning a bust in record timing
By Scott Rogust
Texas Longhorns fans freaked out on message boards after highly-touted quarterback recruit Arch Manning had a slow start in the spring game.
Saturday was an important day for Texas Longhorns fans. Not only was it the day of their annual Orange-White spring game, but it was also their opportunity to see the highly-touted quarterback recruit Arch Manning on the football field for the first time.
Head coach Steve Sarkisian was able to successfully recruit him and Longhorns fans are patiently waiting for him to take the reins under center. But first, he’s competing alongside another top signal caller recruit in Quinn Ewers for the starting job.
Manning got off to a slow start to the spring game, and as you could expect, the message boards lit up, already expressing concern. That’s right , concern…over the spring game.

Manning received a standing ovation from those in attendance at DKR Texas Memorial Stadium, as he jogged onto the field wearing a black jersey with the No. 16. That is the number that his uncle, Peyton, wore while playing for the Tennessee Volunteers football program.
For those who wanted to keep track, he did complete his first pass, which was on a throw to wide receiver Thatcher Milton. Manning also showed off his throwing power later on in the third quarter. Those videos can be viewed below:
While playing for Isidore Newman High School in New Orleans, La., Manning threw for 8,539 yards, 115 touchdowns and 19 interceptions while completing 64.5-percent of his passes. Manning also ran for 748 yards and 19 touchdowns on 98 carries. These statistics come courtesy of MaxPreps.
Longhorns fans finally got to see Manning play for the first time. Now, they will see if he can win the starting quarterback job away from Ewers before the start of the 2023 season.
