Quarterback Shedeur Sanders made his debut for the Colorado Buffaloes at their spring game, and he made a statement with a 98-yard touchdown pass.

The Colorado Buffaloes had a dreadful 2022 campaign, in which they won just 1-of-12 games. After moving on from Karl Dorell, Colorado was able to get one of the biggest names in coaching in Jackson State’s Deion Sanders.

With that, the Buffaloes are entering the 2023 season with high expectations as Sanders brought in some big names to join him in Boulder. One of the players joining him was his son, quarterback Shedeur Sanders.

Saturday was Colorado’s spring game, and Folsom Field was jam-packed with fans checking out the new-look team. The 21-year-old Sanders made quite the statement in his first game in a Colorado uniform. He he threw a 98-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Montana Lemonious-Craig.

That wasn’t all for Sanders, as he also showed off his connection with fellow transfer athlete to Colorado and former Jackson State teammate Travis Hunter. Sanders hit the wide receiver and cornerback in the end zone for a touchdown. Ironically, this happened as ESPN showed a graphic that detailed how Colorado’s offense last season ranked dead last in numerous categories in the Pac-12. The future certainly looks bright for the Buffaloes.

Sanders was a four-star recruit in the 2021 class. In his first year with Jackson State (2021), he threw for 3,231 yards, 30 touchdowns and eight interceptions while completing 65.9-percent of his passes. Then last season, Sanders recorded 3,732 passing yards, 40 passing touchdowns and six interceptions while posting a 70.6 completion percentage.

Colorado fans have to be excited for what the new look team will bring for the 2023 season. They open up the year against the TCU Horned Frogs on Saturday, Sept. 2.
