2023 NFL Draft Day 2 mock draft: Projecting Picks No. 82-91

Texas A&M. player. 48. Scouting Report. RB. Devon Achane. 82. Pick Analysis

This is probably a luxury pick that Tampa Bay isn’t in the best spot to make. Having said that, Devon Achane is a literal track star with game-breaking ability. With Rachaad White still unproven, he could be a real help as a weapon as they try to search for answers at quarterback.

Derick Hall. 83. 36. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Auburn. player. EDGE

Though it was a good 2022 campaign from Uchenna Nwosu, the Seahawks need more pass rush. Derick Hall’s burst and explosion off the line makes him a weapon and, if Pete Carroll and his staff can beef up his arsenal of moves, he has the makings of something special.

Scouting Report. player. Pick Analysis. OL. Alabama. Tyler Steen. 84. 59

Tua Tagovailoa can attest to how bad the Dolphins’ line is right now. They just need good players and then to find a role for them, so they take Tyler Steen here. Potentially an NFL guard after playing left tackle in college, he’s a solid player in all facets who would be an upgrade at multiple spots in Miami.

player. 13. DL. Florida. Gervon Dexter Sr.. 85. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

For years, the Chargers have been trying to get more explosive and disruptive up front. Gervon Dexter Sr. at his best can be that. Even at 300+ pounds, he moves freakishly with his athleticism and, if LA can teach him more technique and discipline, he could be a sneaky game-changer for them.

player. Scouting Report. Tennessee. Byron Young. 86. Pick Analysis. EDGE. 26

If Byron Young (the Tennesse version) wasn’t one of the older players in the draft class, he’s an easy Round 2 pick. He’s incredibly explosive and plays like the Energizer Bunny. The Ravens quietly need pass rush help in a major way and Young could see snaps for them right away.

EDGE. Missouri. 87. player. Scouting Report. Isaiah McGuire. 60. Pick Analysis

Given the uncertainty of the futures of Za’Darius Smith and Danielle Hunter in Minnesota, the Vikings have to address EDGE at some point in this draft. Isaiah McGuire shined in 2022 for Missouri and the 268-pound power rusher fits the mold of what the Vikings tend to like.

Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. CB. Purdue. Cory Trice. 88. player. 52

Jacksonville over multiple regimes has shown an affinity for bigger, longer corners. Cory Trice is definitely that out of Purdue. He’s a bully in press coverage and, with some coaching on his footwork and technique down the field, he could be a nice complement to Tyson Campbell.

31. Scouting Report. Texas. player. Pick Analysis. LB. DeMarvion Overshown. 89

Jarrad Davis is slated to start at linebacker for the Giants and, frankly, that’s not a good thing. DeMarvion Overshown is a great athlete who can cover a ton of ground. If he can shore up his tackling technique, he’ll be a true asset for New York’s defense.

Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Eli Ricks. 123. CB. Alabama. 90. player

One of the focuses for Dallas in the 2023 NFL Draft needed to be improving corner depth and Eli Ricks is a perfect swing to take. Injuries robbed him of showing out in 2022 but his best moments throughout his college tape show the potential for the Cowboys to get a major steal here.

91. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. WR. Cincinnati. Tyler Scott. player. 16

Point blank, the Bills receiver room is not good outside of Stefon Diggs. Gabe Davis hasn’t been consistent and Khalil Shakur just isn’t my guy. They add another speedy threat here in Tyler Scott, a better route-runner than people think but, more importantly, someone to stretch the field more.
