2023 NFL Draft Day 2 mock draft after the first round: Who stops the Will Levis slide?
2023 NFL Draft Day 2 mock draft: Projecting Picks No. 93-102
The writing appears to be on the wall for Joe Mixon in Cincinnati, so the Bengals take Tyjae Spears in the third round here. The Tulane product is a joystick in space with how he makes defenders miss and could be a ton of fun if paired with someone like Joe Burrow.
There are some concerns about Nick Herbig’s size holding up in the NFL as an EDGE but the Panthers have turned Brian Burns into a star. Herbig was dominant as a rusher this past season in Wisconsin and is worth taking a shot on here given that.
More talent for the Cardinals in areas where they just don’t have much, Moro Ojomo is a sleeper crush of mine. The Texas product is extremely long and already a great run defender but, with proper coaching, could also be a menace as an interior pass-rusher with his frame.
Martin played both safety and cornerback at Illinois and, while he had highs at both spots, that more highlights his versatility as a coverage player. The Chiefs need depth at both safety and corner, so adding Martin is a simple call to help address both.
Arizona is back on the clock and they work to get another weapon on offense with Tucker Kraft. The South Dakota State star moves extremely well at 254 pounds but will take some time to adjust from the FCS to the NFL level in terms of speed and physicality as he just out-athleted most of the competition in college.
It’s not a dire need on the Washington offensive line but Andrew Norwell has disappointed a bit at guard. Nick Saldiveri will slot in from tackle at the NFL level but is a nice athlete who should be a nice, versatile asset at guard that could be an upgrade for the Commanders.
Grant Delpit just hasn’t worked out the way the Browns once hoped and it’s been an issue for this team. Jammie Robinson can play all over the field but is a strong, willing tackler with solid coverage ability to boot.
At long last, the 49ers come on the clock and they look into replacing Mike McGlinchey at right tackle by taking Blake Freeland. The BYU star moves quite well for a 6-foot-8 beast but does need to get a bit stronger. Even still, the talent and potential are clearly there.
Things aren’t exactly pretty along the Raiders defensive front and, after putting Tyree Wilson on the edge, they land a steady interior presence with the Alabama iteration of Byron Young. While not spectacular in any area, he’s good in just about every area and can be a solid contributor.
The testing process wasn’t kind to Riley Moss but the Iowa cornerback looks like a better athlete on tape and, more importantly, consistently produced results in college. San Francisco needs cornerback help that Moss should be able to provide.
Karl Brooks is the final pick in this Day 2 mock draft. Opposite Nick Bosa, the 49ers could use a boost and Brooks could bring that to the table. He’s extremely quick for a 300-pound end and seems like the unique piece the Niners always pick up and maximize.
